At Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar (The Golden Temple Amritsar), we welcome millions of devotees and visitors from around the world. As a mark of respect
and devotion, all visitors are required to remove their footwear before entering the sacred premises. To
ensure the safety and convenience of your belongings, a Free Shoe-Keeping Store (Joda Ghar) is available
at the entrance.
How the Shoe-Keeping Service Works
Completely Free Service – This is a seva (selfless service) offered to all visitors.
Safe & Organized Storage – Your shoes will be carefully placed and returned securely.
Fast & Hassle-Free – Drop off your footwear and receive a token for easy collection.
24/7 Availability – The service runs day and night to accommodate all visitors.
Managed by Volunteers – Dedicated sevadar (volunteers) ensure smooth operation.
Guidelines for Visitors
Please collect a token when depositing your footwear.
Keep your token safe, as it is required for retrieval.
Be patient and respectful towards sevadars and fellow visitors.
Avoid leaving valuables inside your footwear.
Location of Shoe-Keeping Store
The Joda Ghar (Shoe-Keeping Facility) is located near the main entrance gates of the Golden Temple
complex. Signage will guide you to the designated area.
This free facility is part of the selfless service (seva) tradition of Sikhism, ensuring a
comfortable and respectful experience for all who visit the house of Guru Ram Das Ji.
