Just next to Akal Takhat Sahib stands in the memory of historical visit of Ninth Sikh Master Guru Teg Bahadar to Hamandir Sahib. Prior to attaining Guruship Guru Teg Bahadar spent nearly 11 years in meditation at Baba Bakala Sahib. Makhan Shah lubana a devotee of Guru deposed 22 different persons claiming to be Guru and declared that he has found the true Guru (Guru Teg Bahadar). After that Guru Teg Bahadur came to Darbar Sahib to pay obeisance but the priests closed the doors fearing they may lose their business. Guru Teg Bahadar stayed at this place for some time, made a prayer and left for next journey.
